· He did what he could to take care of his younger sister and brother
· As shared by Robert’s daughter, Susan, via memories of when she was little and they would visit Grandpa and Grandma Charles and Edith, children were to be seen and not heard. She had to sit in chair and not say a word. “When we left, Dad and I would talk in the car!” - Susan
· WWII Service: was originally to be a pilot as he had the necessary education, but testing that was conducted in the trainers resulted in his being failed out as a pilot due to ‘coordination challenges’.
